Three lasts
Find your size and last
Measure barefoot, standing, weight on both feet, heel against a wall. Measure in the evening — feet run larger by the end of the day. Feet differ; enter the longer one.
Every figure is a last measurement — the form the boot is built on — and equals the maximum internal dimension when new. Vegetable-tanned leather gives with wear. A starting point, not a rule.

The Yazdi Ayr
The Yazdi Chukka - brogued.
This unique boot began life as a commission. Dr Alexandre Yazdi, an Iranian-French inventor and a treasured and loyal customer of Gaucho Ninja, had bought more than fifteen pairs of our Tabi and asked Lisandro if he could create a Chukka with the same feel.
The Yazdi Ayr is that Chukka bearing the pattern of our Ayr Brogue - the leatherwork decoration grounded in ancient Scottish heritage.
Broguing was drainage long before it was decoration. The perforations were punched through hide so that bog water would run back out of the shoe, avoiding trench foot. Three centuries later the holes remain purely as decoration, their original purpose lost to history.
This boot keeps the decorative leatherwork and puts it on a barefoot last - a Chukka that presents itself as smartly as a dress boot while simultaneously allowing all five toes to lie flat and splayed, as nature intends.
Available in chocolate brown, vegetable-tanned leather, and Goodyear welted over the Sacred Geometry sole.
The classic brogue - without the classic painful toes.

Size and Fit
Built on the X-Wide last, EU 37–48, unisex — the same last as the Yazdi chukka. If you own a pair of X-Wide, order the same size.
A Chukka sits at ankle height and is the most forgiving silhouette in the range for a high instep. Adjustable lacing sits across the neck of the boot.
If you are between sizes, use the removable 4.5 mm insole as your adjustment - in for a closer hold, out for volume.
We highly recommend you measure your feet before buying. Measure them by placing your heel against a wall, measure a line in cm from the center of your heel to your biggest toe whilst barefooted. Please insert this value in our size guide to know exactly your EU size. Our lasts are unique to us. Contact us if you need support about your size.

CONSTRUCTION
The Yazdi Ayr Chukka is a Goodyear welted boot. A leather welt is stitched to the upper and insole in a single loop; the sole is stitched to the welt, never to the upper. The sole is replaced at the welt and the upper is untouched.
Any cobbler can resole it. The Sacred Geometry sole replacement is available from Gaucho Ninja for a factory-matched swap.
Perforation is a decorative operation on a closed upper - it does not pass through the lining, and the boot is no less weather-resistant for it, unlike the original intention for the holes in 17th Century Scotland!
CARE Instructions
Vegetable-tanned leather develops a rich patina over time and is designed to age with you. Each pair will have a slightly different colour appearance due to individual hides and vegetable tanning.
- -Clean regularly with a soft brush
- -Use a natural saddle soap when needed
- -Condition sparingly using our organic plant based leather conditioner
- -Avoid direct heat when drying
Proper care allows the leather - and the footwear - to improve with age.

Movement & Balance
Wearing the Yazdi Ayr
The broguing does the decorative work on behalf of the wearer, so everything else can be plain. Flannel or wool trousers are ideal; or raw denim, stacked. Wear with thick woollen tights and a tweed skirt for a truly Autumnal outfit choice.
Chocolate brown is the easier brown to wear - it complements navy, grey and olive where tan clashes.
It stops just short of black tie but covers everywhere below it. If you own just one pair of Goodyear-welted barefoot boots and need them to cover the office, a wedding and a Saturday in town, this boot will do it all.
Craft over speed
The Heritage
'People often ask why I still use these old methods.
It’s because 100 years ago, my family in Argentina didn't just work with leather; they made items to ensure their safety and comfort. A hundred years ago, a Gaucho’s saddle was key to his work.
Today, I’m bringing that same lineage into the Sacred Geometry collection. We aren't just making footwear; we’re honoring a century of craft.
In a world of fast fashion, we choose to go slow.
We only produce in limited runs.
Why?
Because quality like this takes time, and we respect the materials too much to waste them.
When you order from Gaucho Ninja, you’re not just buying a shoe - you’re allowing us to prioritise craft over speed, and quality over quantity.'

Frequently asked questions
-
They share the Chukka silhouette, the X-Wide last, the Sacred Geometry sole and the Goodyear welt. The Yazdi Ayr adds brogue perforated decoration to the upper, elevating the boot even further than the Chukka alone.
-
No footwear in this collection is waterproof. Brogue perforation is decorative and does not pass through the lining, so the Yazdi Ayr is no less weather-resistant than the plain Yazdi Chukka.
What you can do with any of our natural leather boots is to add shoe wax polish for a natural water resistant layer. This is a traditional method for keeping your feet dry. No synthetic membranes or chemicals necessary. -
A brogue is the less formal end of the dress shoe, and a brogued Chukka more so. It suits business and business-casual dress and stops short of black tie. It is a unisex boot, as are all of our styles.
-
The same. Both are built on the Gaucho Ninja X-Wide last. If you need help with sizing you will find a size calculator on each product page, or get in touch and we will help.
-
Yes. The Yazdi Ayr is Goodyear welted and can be resoled by any cobbler, repeatedly, for as long as the upper lives. A boot for years, not seasons.
