Sneaky Ninjas | Barefoot Safety Chelsea Boots in Black

I've been wearing minimal / barefoot shoes exclusively for 10 years, so when I needed a safety boot for factory work I had to do a little research. Found these and spent a bit of time worrying about the sizing. Their guide recommended a size smaller than I usually buy from other brands, so I went 1 up and got my usual size. That was the right choice, it would have been too tight. My feet are a little wider than my size would indicate, so the fit guide was off for me. My only concern is the steel cap feels a little low and doesn't give my toes much room to move up and down. Otherwise, they're very comfortable and I'm super happy with them.

I've been looking for a safety toe, work shoe with a wide enough toe box for years. Especially one in a Chelsea slip-on. I thought I'd give Gaucho a try because I was heartened by the details of size and fitting in their literature. I sent along my detailed size info and when got them I was surprised how comfortable they actually were. At first I thought they were too loose because I could barely feel them. But moving around proved that my foot was secure enough to climb around a construction site just fine. It feels like as. comfortable as flip flops but with full protection. I can barely feel the safety toe unless I try. The flexibility of the sole made climbing my apple trees for apples easy and agile. If these last long enough, I will get another pair. I had no idea safety boots could feel so comfortable.

The shoe is fantastic in many ways. Wide toebox, incredibly light, low to the ground = good balance, feels waterproof etc.

Sadly it doesn't fit my foot type out of the box. I ordered size 45 as recommended which gives plenty of room for the toes and on the sides (Even enough for the little toe in my opinion!). However the shoe is clearly designed for a foot with high arch and wide wrists, I have flat feets (and skinny wrists) which makes the shoe loose. I mean very loose... there where 1cm gap all around the wrist which makes the shoes feel more like a pair of rubber boots.
If I had known this I would have bought the carpenters boot with lacing instead. But I did like the overall features so much that instead of returning them I temporarily fixed the loose feel with tongue pads. I will probably have a cobbler adjust the elastic band on the side for a tighter fit.
I tried a thicker insole but the protective toe cap is really low, so any change of insoles that is just slightly thicker makes the metal pinch down on your toes. i think this is a feature that can be improved, hence the 4 star rating.

Fot the right foot its easily a 5+.

I ordered these shoes for work (Carpentry). I didn't want to crush my feet with conventional safety boots.
have had them for 2 weeks now.

Pros:
Quick to put on/off
Lightweight
Sole is sturdy
Big toe doesn't feel crushed
Comfortable

Cons:
Not enyough space on the toe box, the little toe side. (Not as wide as the Real Foot Shoe company - that is my ideal wide)
CSA certification is still pending (Not sure how long it will take).
